Read or Die: Three girls named Anita, Michelle and Maggie are hired to protect Japanese author Nenene Sumiregawa during her stay in Hong Kong. In an incident where the "Paper Sisters" save Nenene from a disgruntled author, Nenene discovers that the sisters have the capability to control paper at their own will - an ability once used by her long-lost friend Yomiko "The Paper" Readman. Arriving in Japan after an airliner incident, the Paper Sisters move into Nenene's apartment and become her freeloading bodyguards.

Ikki tôsen: Seven schools in the district of Kantō are constantly at war with each other. The lives and fates of certain students are guided by jewels, called Magatama, that contain the spirits and destinies of warriors from the Three Kingdoms period of China. The ultimate purpose of each of these tōshi is to get stronger than all others and become the eponymous Ikkitōsen. Hakufu Sonsaku recently moved to Tokyo and is apparently destined to unite the schools, just as her counterpart united seven countries long ago. The others find it hard to believe in her, as she consistently shows a lack of common sense and intelligence. However, the magatama that her mother Goei passes on is rumored to be infused with the spirit of the legendary warrior Sun Ce. All Hakufu herself cares about though is fighting whomever happens to be up for a rumble - in fact, fighting even excites her - which causes embarrassment and frustration to her cousin Shuyu Koukin, with whom she is staying.

Humbled by his failure, he resolves to use his talents for fighting crime, and becomes the superhero Spider-Man. While he fights assorted super-villains, Peter also must balance his personal life, including his girlfriend Mary Jane, his job as a photographer at the Daily Bugle, and a an editor who has convinced himself that Spider-man is a criminal that has to be brought down.

Loki is soon joined by a human girl named Mayura who is a maniac for mysteries, and she soon helps out in her own way. However, soon other Norse gods begin to appear, and most have the intent to assassinate Loki for reasons unclear.

Ginji, on the other hand, can generate thousands of volts of electricity within his body at will like a human electric eel. Together, they boast an (almost) 100% success rate at retrieving objects for their clients. If only they could figure out how to keep from constantly going broke...
